With some struggle ”Interbourse Football” is back for the 20th Time 8-9 September 2023 in Stockholm and Helsinki …. I will start to comment all the “Comebacks”….
First Daniel Weinmann and Marc Freuler with Zurich Team. This Team played the first Tournament arranged by Pascal Corbet Paris. Marc Freuler has kept the Zurich tradition alive and will bring the Zurich Team back in the Tournament – They are actually the only Team that has participated in all Tournaments, and also arranging 4 of Them. Daniel will fly to Stockholm and be Part of the Program as Honourable President and represent the Legends.
Second The Interbourse IRGL Team “Lennart Johanssons Team” Is created for players from teams that could not join with a full Team this year – and it is a lot of Teams and Players that has added to the Tournament. This Team actually won the Tournament 2012. Right now it includes a lot of former players and winners from different Teams. Down as you see we will also Honor Lennart, The Good Father of Champions League of Football and also a Great Contributor of bot Football and also Interbourse Football…Lennarts Team won the Tournament 2012 on the Olympic Stadium.
Third the generation shift – when Reykjavik now rejoins. It will be with the son of the former leader Jonas Sigurgeirsson, Sigurgeir Jonason that has taking care of the Team – It’s a bit the Tradition just look at the names. And they will play under the name Reykjavik Kvika Bank, it was actually one of the old players who has sponsored the Team, now CEO of the Kvika Bank.
But the Tournament also mark a move into a new positive football – Including girls and a Tournament with a new style, 9-aside, playing on half pitches to help all type of players to participate and also organisers to arrange it.
Fourth the Helsinki Team – Riku Oksala is finally back, a Team started by Pekka Peiponen at Helsinki Exchange 2003 as a Hockey team. They was also involved in the Tournaments Organization 2004 and now 2023.
Fifth Madrid Team – with Gonzalo Hortal in charge seems to be forever young, and everyone who has attended the Madrid Events know that he brought our family to the greatest venue of football “Santiago Bernabeu” not once, it became twice. And you never know it could be a third – If we can keep the Tournament alive. Currently Madrid and Stockholm has the longest streaks attending together with Zurich.
Sixth Finally the Stockholm Team – where Johan Qviberg, leading the Troops. This Team actually celebrate 50 years. 1973 football between buyside and sellside took place for the first time. The football became game became the embryo to the Stock Brokers Club BMK, among them supported was Erik Penser . The games also included girls already in the seventies.
The Team was then restarted for Interbourse 2003 in Frankfurt by Peter Nordquist from Börsmäklarklubben, and Per-Erik Holmström from the Financial Icehockey Team for the Interbourse Tournament in Frankfurt, perfectly arranged by Frank Diergardt – that took us all to the Town Hall for the Opening Ceremony.
But finally by just coming we keep the spirit alive… we will always remember the Champions, and the memories will stay forever in the Players and Leaders who have once Participated…
Currently Gonzalo and Per-Erik has played all Tournaments since 2003 and with Daniel and Marc we have a complete history of 20 years from 2000… Daniel will hopefully add some stories from the Past
But we have started and guided the way for the new Generation.. So far we are sustainable
